When our wonderful client approached us with a heartfelt idea for his wife’s 80th birthday, we knew we had the opportunity to create something truly special. His vision was to design a custom ring featuring nine stones—eventually landing on an alternating pattern of rubies and diamonds—to symbolize each decade of her life, plus an additional stone representing more joy and memories to come.
To bring this vision to life, we began with a deep dive into the stones themselves. Our client's wife is a July baby, so of course rubies had to be a part of this custom ring and diamonds compliment colored stones beautifully. What these gems represent also adds so much heart and meaning to this ring- Rubies, with their rich red hue, represent love and commitment, while diamonds symbolize strength and eternity. This combination made perfect sense for a milestone birthday, embodying not only the wonderful years of her life but also the enduring bond they share.
After many custom jewelry design options were discussed, like the rings above, we settled on a classic yet modern design that would beautifully present the gems. The alternating pattern of rubies and diamonds creates a striking visual rhythm. The luxurious rubies and diamonds graduate in size and are expertly set in an 18 karat yellow gold setting that showcases these magnificent gems.
