This project began when one of our longstanding clients approached us wanting a fabulous gift for his wife's 50th birthday. He specified that he wanted a ring that was simple and elegant but one that would really let a fabulous stone do the talking.
The first step we chose to begin with was choosing which stone complimented the idea the client had in mind. We started by looking at dozens of options, narrowed the choices down to six, then narrowed it down even more to four.
The main points of distinction for the emeralds we were choosing between were color, clarity, and overall size and shape. The client preferred a larger or "spreadier" stone with a lighter color, which landed us on the spectacular 9.92 carat stone pictured above.
Next was the design of the ring itself. The client requested a simple bezel set style with the presence of a beautiful design on the grille (or underside of the stone) for a feminine flair. The ring was cast in 20 karat yellow gold and finished with a matte satin and brushed style mixture.
In the end, this refined and elegant ring came out beautifully and made for a fabulous 50th birthday gift!
